Hide (the owner) is the most gracious, thoughtful and kindest host I've ever come across - from offering a detailed introduction to Lake Toya (things to do and places to eat) to picking me up after fireworks at night and dropping me off at the train station in the morning because it was raining! It's heartwarming to meet such considerate and genuinely wonderful human beings. The room was a very comfortable Japanese style apartment room. Very clean and spacious. Hide also offers a 500 yen coupon for a lakeside onsen bath at a four star hotel in Toya onsen! Overall, this was my best stay in Hokkaido. Next time, I'm coming back for 5 nights because 2 was too few!

I had a very nice reception by the owner. When I arrived, I was given a full package of Japanese snacks. He then offered to give me a lift to the lake, to eat in a restaurant (as there are none close to the hotel) and to watch the daily fireworks. After the fireworks, he gave me a lift back to the hotel. Because I am travelling by bicycle, on the following day he gave me an isotonic for my bike trip around the lake. And on the day I left, he gave me some sushi and an energetic for the trip. So these small demonstrations of receptiveness really captivated me and to me they are more important than the utmost comfort of a 4 or 5 star hotel.

Cozy little hotel, nothing fancy but we had everything we needed. A great place for a budget ski trip to hokkaido compered to the crazy prices in the resort towns. Toya lake is a sweet location if you are willing to drive a bit to get to the ski hills. The host is an absolute legend and thats what makes the real experience in my opinion. They even took care of one of our mates when he got a bit sick and skipped a ski day with the rest of us. The onsen they provided us with discount cards was also really good and we liked it the most of all the other onsens we visited

The owner was waiting for us at the exact time we told him we'll arrive. We got sweets and discount tickets to onsen. I was amazed by that onsen hotel, Infinity rooftop pool, it was fantastic. We had a car, the lake and shops are in a 3 min drive. The hotel is quite old, but everything was good. Clean bed sheets, warm, bright, no smoke smell in the room, silent at night. We were travelling with a 1 year-old toddler, it was safe for her too. There is a loft in the room, we did not use it.

2 futons were on the ground floor while 1 futon was on the mezanine floor, which can only be accessed by a ladder. Not recommended for elderly people to climb up but for our group it was okay. Owner was very nice and helpful, giving recommendations of food and answers any questions that we ask about the place. he also gave discounted Onsen tickets, free drinks and even took a polaroid photo for us when we were leaving!
